In this powerful, sensual romance from the author of Her Survivor, a broken woman meets a shattered warrior—and discovers a passion strong enough to heal each other’s deepest wounds.

Navy SEAL Reece Browning sacrificed body and soul in the line of duty. He survived torture at the hands of America’s enemies, but lost his career and his voice in the process. Traumatized and desperate to get his PTSD under control, Reece escapes to Eagle Ridge Ranch. Under the big Texas sky, he finds peace, a renewed sense of purpose—and a woman who makes him feel like a man again. Her smile lights up his dark days, and her caress helps him forget the night terrors.

Ex-Marine Gina Wilson also bears painful scars emotional wounds inflicted by men she once trusted with her life. She has fought hard to overcome her demons and build a good life for her daughter, and Reece is too intense, too damaged, too raw to let into her heart. Yet she’s drawn irresistibly to his steely gaze and heated embrace. No one else understands what it’s like to suffer in silence. And when Gina’s daughter is threatened, it’s Reece who risks everything to save the day.

Great premise and story but the writing is not for me. Hers to Heal has moments of brilliance and some very interesting characters but it only gets two stars for me because the language is "off" in its attempt to sound Texan, because Piper (while amusing and completely adorable) talks unlike any other child of her age..."near genius" or not, and mostly because towards the end of the book Gina morphs from a lovable, loving woman into a first class witch. It's temporary and she comes back to "normal" Gina but I found it to be a drastic character swing and off-putting.

The intimate moments are plentiful, well written and steamy. A+ for those. Reece is great and there's nothing I didn't like about him. His love for Gina and Piper was almost palpable and he did just about everything right. The characters are all interesting and engaging until they veer into demonstrating too much of whatever characteristic the author wants to highlight.

As much as I enjoyed the story-line and appreciate the author's work and intent, I'm not sure I'll read her again. Sometimes less is more, and just enough really is enough. Still, though, it's a good story if you can get past the language and names like the recurring "fudge and buttermilk" and Junebug.

OMG I cannot possible finish this. The korny colloquialisms are to far out there to be taken seriously. Its too bad bc I think this could be a really good story if the author could just stop using those. Its like reading a book written by an English person that knows nothing about Texas. I may not be from Texas but I am next door in Oklahoma and have never heard any of those colloquialisms. I felt like I was reading something with ma and pa kettle.
This was an outstanding and well balanced book. A little bit of magic combined with strong and courageous men and women who supported each other and created a strong family bond that continue beyond their military career. The lovemaking scenes were compelling fantastic tantalizing and explicit. The characters supports the storyline and were developed. If you enjoy reading about strong and courageous people who were damaged physically and spiritually but over came and found a love amazing and wonderful that it could heal all wounds than select this book. Outstanding
Powerful Emotional Love Story !!! I just loved Reece and a strong female like Gina. Piper was so awesome she gave SOO much unconditional love as children do! All the characters add so much. Dust, JJ, Ashely and ZQ and also Junebug who have each others backs always!! They all helped Reece open up. I have heard that what happened to Gina does go on in our military which is sad. I am not good at reviews but this book just graped at my heart and wouldn't let go! I can't wait for the next book ) I hope everyone in Black Eagle Ops plus ZQ get HEA!! These books all of them are fiction not true stories, but i thought it was very realistic ! I was VERY IMPRESSED with this bookand will be waiting for the rest!! Thank you Ms. Davis ! Diane Damico
This is another good book in the Black Eagle Ops series. Loved the story of Reece's and Gina and 6 year old Piper. She's a pistol for sure. Gina is a physical therapist who is helping Reece recover from his torture in Syria. He barely speaks until he meets her little girl who declares that he should be her new daddy because their middle names are the same. This a sweet and hot love story but also some tense moments when the OPs team go after the Russian Mafia kidnapping little blond girls like Piper.
Great story and great characters. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
This is absolutely my favorite Vonnie Davis book. It pulls you in from the first page with its characters. A story well told about PTSD and the effect it has on, not only the Warrior, but the people they love, and come to love. The things our brave men and women go through are thing we never have to think of. Vonnie told such a great story, that you come to understand some of what they deal with. Thank you, Vonnie Davis for your insight, and story telling. You always make me smile.
I think this book is a well-intended effort to demonstrate the challenges of living with and overcoming PTSD and I think that was the best part of the book. I appreciate that the author recognized that this is a problem which affects both men and women and has multiple causes--it seems every character in the book was dealing with or had dealt with it. That said, I realized at some point that the most interesting character in the book was 6-year old Piper. Oh, I liked Reece and Clint, but several of the other characters were a bit cartoonish or flat out annoying. Gina? Well, Gina needs to return to Dr. Ramsey, soon! Bambi? Oh, please!!! The plot of the book was pretty much all over the place--most of the real action of the book took place in about the last 10% of the book (thanks, ) and was almost totally unbelievable. Throw in a bit of Native American mysticism and add a bunch of new characters for future books and the end of the book was disappointing.
This deals with the many problems an injured vet has when no longer being able to consider themselves worthy once being medically released from duty. They often feel unworthy of love and affection as well. All emotionally scarred from their experiences and dealing with the PTSD that accompanies it. This is well written, with great characters. Love to read about more of the group's characters.
